The Apple iPad will be available from £429 when it goes on sale in the UK on May 28, with the most expensive model costing £699

The Apple iPad will be available from £429 when it is released in the UK on May 28, with the most expensive model costing £699.

The 16GB Wi-Fi model is priced the lowest, with other Wi-Fi models - 32GB and 64GB - costing £499 and £599 respectively. The Wi-Fi + 3G iPads - 16GB, 32GB and 64GB models - will cost £529, £599 and £699 respectively.

The iPad will be available for pre-order in the UK as well as Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Spain and Switzerland on May 10. The iPad will be available through the Apple Store, Apple's retail stores and Apple Autorised Resellers. For the UK, O2, Vodafone and Orange have announced dedicated iPad plans upon its release.

Apple will next look to release the iPad in Austria, Belgium, Hong Kong, Ireland, Luxembourg, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand and Singapore in July. Availability, pricing and pre-order plans for these countries will be announced at a later date.

Apple said it has sold over one million iPads since its launch in the US on April 3, with customers downloading over 12 million applications from the Apple App Store, as well as over 1.5 million ebooks from the iBookstore.
