Google releases Android 3.0 Honeycomb SDK preview

Today Google released a preview of its Android 3.0 Honeycomb software developer kit (SDK). Built for tablets and other large screen devices, this SDK gives application developers a look at what the final Android 3.0 SDK will look like and let them start working on building new applications that take advantage of Honeycomb's new user interface and other updates.
While the application programming interfaces (APIs) provided in the preview are still subject to change, it will let devs start tooling around with Honeycomb's new 2D/3D graphics system, multi-core processor support, and new multimedia features.
Google's Android 3.0 Platform Highlights story shows some of the new features, including the ever-present System Bar, which offers always-accessible navigation buttons and access to notifications and status messages. Also explained is the new Action Bar, which provides users with application specific controls.
